Project Stats
Square Footage: 30,000
Year Completed: 2003
Location: Truckee, CA
Four commercial buildings (three 2-story and one single story) at Truckee airport designed to handle extreme temperatures using ICF construction. These high thermal mass ICF structures are a significant element of building green. ICF foam/reinforced concrete walls use a high percentage of recycled materials, have as little as 1-2% waste and substantially reduce the carbon emissions compared to other commercial or residential buildings. Over the lifecycle they will create considerably less CO2 due to their reduced need to consume fossil fuels. Reductions of several tons of carbon dioxide per year are typical. With ICF wall systems not only is there lower operating costs for utilities, but significantly reduced long term maintenance.
